Had a very productive 1st week in Sydney, first I managed to land a job, and now we've managed to find ourselves a flat, a 2 bedroom pad in Bondi. Its a real nice place and is 5 minutes walk from the beach, so it'll be great in the summer to catch some rays, some waves (when i learn to surf), and some talent! Bondi is a hotspot for travellers and backpackers, it's an eastern subburb and is about a 10 minute train ride into the CBD, so it should become a home to many adventures. Moving in later today (Saturday). Good timing too, as tomorrow is the annual City to Bondi race. I don't really know much about it but a few mates have said it'll be really busy and will be a good day so we'll be able to take a walk down there and see whats cracking off. So, we're leaving Kings Cross today (a part of sydeny that has about 50 hostels, and twice as many strip joints), lugging our bags one final time to bondi beach and then meeting up with a couple of mates who used to work at the waterfront for a few drinks tonight. I shall be taking some photo's of my new neighbourhood when Im not busy keying in wine discount data, and will upload them when I have a spare 5.
Been working hard all week entering data at the brewery. I've got work there till the end of August now which is good. Its at a place called Lidcombe and the commute from Kings Cross, where our hostel has been this week, is an hour which isn't too bad...early morning tube and iPod is going to the the norm for the next month or two i reckon. Im at the same place next week (so from Bondi the travel time will increase to a full 90 minutes) but then may be moving to another of their sites in a place called Botany the week after, which will be closer so less of a commute in the a.m (proberbly an hour or so). The job itself is pretty easy and it's not just data entry and typing flat out allday, there's alot of checking stuff off lists, the re checking and re entering data so your fingers get abreak every now and then. Its a nice change from bar/restaurant work and the pay is better too. There are a few other temps there who are sound, but a few less so, one girl the other day..."is 1500ml the same as 1.5l"..bright spark! They play football every week at olympic park so Im gonna enquire about that on Monday and see how good the Ausies are at the beautiful game.
The hype around the Olympics is crazy out here, it's been on the TV constantly for the last few weeks about the Ausie team, and it's on TV pretty much 24/7 now it's started...I can't remember the interest being this big back at home. It'll be easy to keep tabs on whats going on so will be doing my bit to cheer on the team GB. And the footy season will be starting, so hopefully ill be able to keep tabs on that as best as possible to see the mighty Robbie Keane and Fernando Torres strike partnership rip up the premier league.
I hear everyone is away on holiday so i hope you all had a nice time and had some fun in the sun (especially you Sam!).
Sinny's birthday was 08/08/08 so if you see him anytime soon wish him many happy returns!
have just uploaded the last of my perth photo's. all for now. x
